WGBC ERN’s Stakeholders’ views on the Commission’s Sustainable Buildings Communication
Following the publication of the European Commission`s Circular economy package on 2 July including a “Communication on Resource efficiency opportunities in the building sector”, the Europe Regional Network of the World Green Building Council has collected a series of Stakeholder Views, including an article from the Active House Alliance. This collection of opinions is meant to allow for a better understanding of the issues at stake and enhance the dialogue on next policy steps among stakeholders and decision-makers.
Active House Alliance welcomed the Commission`s Initiative to develop clearly defined and measurable indicators for building performance and a supporting framework for implementation. However, it is of key importance that we take a holistic approach when proposing new measures in the buildings sector. Buildings should be evaluated on their performance regarding Indoor comfort, Energy efficiency and Environmental load. Only by such a holistic approach can we create the sustainable buildings of the future for people and society.
