Great Gulf Active House wins Wood Works Award in Canada
Wood WORKS! is a national, industry-led initiative of the Canadian Wood Council that promotes and supports the use of wood in all types of construction. The objective is to encourage the use of wood and wood products in construction projects, and to acknowledge the contribution of wood-use advocates and industry leaders. The program connects members of the construction sector that are advancing the use of wood and offers learning possibilities through seminars and trainings to existing and future practitioners.
At the 14th annual Wood Works Award Ceremony in Toronto, the outstanding project “Great Gulf Active House” delivered by the team of experts of Active House Canada has been recognized by the Residential Wood Design Award. The house was designed to Active House standards, which strive to balance energy efficiency, low environmental impact, and superior indoor environmental quality. Besides these elements, wood and panelized wood construction were central to the project’s achievements, which thus became a new benchmark in modern, sustainable suburban Canadian development.
