Active House presents its vision at Murator Building Conference in Warsaw
Active House participated in the Building Conference organised by Murator, the Polish leading building magazine, which took place on 4 November in Warsaw. The conference brought together professionals of the construction industry to discuss the design of sustainable and energy efficient buildings that ensure the comfort of its future users, at an optimal cost.
Active House had the opportunity to present to the conference participants its vision of sustainable buildings, which strike a balance between the inhabitants’ comfort and the energy-efficiency without impacting negatively on the environment. Active House’s Secretary General Kurt Emil Eriksen explained at the Building Conference that “Active House philosophy is to have the human being at the centre” of the design. We build houses for people, who spend 90% of their time indoor. Therefore, we will have to focus on comfort as a very important issue besides energy efficiency and low environmental footprint.
Secretary General Kurt Emil Eriksen also pointed out that Active House builds on the knowledge of Passiv House but takes a step further to also encompass comfort and energy efficiency aspects in a holistic way. In addition, he commented that Active House also complements BREEAM and LEED certifications, which focus mainly on office buildings, by placing the comfort of private house inhabitants at the centre of its vision. According to the Secretary General, Active House’s ultimate ambition in the EU is to showcase that nearly zero energy buildings (nZEB) can be built at an optimal cost and with a good and healthy indoor climate.
