During the prestigious Batibouw, the biggest Belgian trade fair for construction and renovation for professionals and the general public, which will take place from 22 February to 4 March in the Brussels Expo, the Active House Alliance organizes a seminar on how can buildings create value through values?

The seminar is open to everyone working in the construction sector or real estate industry. Architects, designers, constructors, home builders etc. are welcome.

Joost Hartwig

Dipl.-Ing. Joost Hartwig studierte Architektur an der Technischen Universität Darmstadt (TUD). Von 2007 bis 2012 war er Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Fachgebiet Entwerfen und Energieeffizientes Bauen bei Professor Manfred Hegger an der TU Darmstadt mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten Ökobilanzierung und Nachhaltigkeitsbewertung von Gebäuden. Außerdem war er von 2007 bis 2013 Mitarbeiter bei der HHS Planer + Architekten AG, Kassel und unter anderem persönlicher Referent von Prof. Hegger. Seit 2008 ist Joost Hartwig Auditor für das Nachhaltigkeitszertifizierungssystem der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB). Bei der DGNB engagiert er u.a. sich als Mitglied der Expertengruppe „Ökobilanzierung“. Nach einem Lehrauftrag im Wintersemester 09/10 an der Fachhochschule Erfurt, Lehrveranstaltungen an der Umea school of architecture, Schweden (2010-2013), und einem Lehrauftrag an der Fachhochschule Frankfurt (2013) war er von 2014 bis 2016 Vertretungsprofessor für Ökobilanzierung, Nachhaltigkeitsbewertung und Energieeffizienz für Gebäude an der Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Seit 2011 ist Joost Hartwig geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der ina Planungsgesellschaft mbH, einem Spin-off der TU Darmstadt und seit Juli 2013 im Vorstand des AktivPlus e.V..

Active speaker, mentor and advisor on sustainability, design and innovation, education. Board member of the Danish Architects Association, the Beautification of Copenhagen and Danish Design Council. Architect by education and credo; swiss knife profile within people management, strategy & business, project management and innovation. Postgraduate master degree in Energy & Green Architecture in DK and China. Focal point on the actual user value and quality experience = longevity of sustainable buildings.
Rory Bergin
Partner, Sustainable Futures
Rory Bergin set up the Sustainable Futures team in 2007 and over the last decade has managed its growth to provide a wide range of services to our clients aimed at improving the sustainability of development. He leads a specialist team composed of architects and engineers who carry out building performance analysis for our colleagues in HTA and for external clients. Our areas of expertise include building physics, daylight and sunlight, energy, microclimate, prefabrication and the BREEAM sustainability standards. He led the sustainability aspects of many of HTA’s award-winning projects including Hanham Hall, Olympic Way, Apex House, the Aylesbury Estate, the Merton Regeneration estates and many more. Rory presents the teams work and HTA’s work widely across the UK and abroad, and is a regular contributor to the architectural press on sustainability matters ranging from energy policy to the ethics of development. He currently chairs the Housing Forum working group on Housing Quality and represents HTA on working groups for the Construction Leadership Council on Offsite Construction and the UK Apartment Association on Technology Committee. Rory is a technical advisor to ActiveHouse a holistic sustainability standard, and holds a number of sustainability accreditations. Originally trained as an architect, Rory has worked at HTA since 1993, becoming a partner in 2015.
Vinay Venkatramen
CEO and founder of Leapcraft www.leapcraft.dk
Vinay is the CEO and founder of Leapcraft www.leapcraft.dk - a big data driven innovation consultancy. Prior to this he co-founded of the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design www.ciid.dk. He has also built a data visualisation academy in collaboration with the Danish Design Center www.bigdataviz.dk. He works at the intersection of design and technology practices, consults to companies worldwide and lectures at various international venues. His current interests are in exploring the design & application of simple technologies to solve some of the world’s wicked problems. Vinay is based in Copenhagen, Denmark but he frequently works and travels globally.
Marco Imperadori
University Full Professor, researcher and designer
University Full Professor, researcher and designer, Marco Imperadori, focuses his interests in high energy- efficient buildings, Structure/ Envelope Building Systems and in general Sustainability. He is Msc and PhD in Building Engineering. Lecturer and Visiting Professor in many Universities and Institutions worldwide. Since 2015 visiting professor at USJ Macau. Author of scientific publications and essays. Founded in 1998, with Valentina Gallotti, Atelier 2, design studio placed in Milan, winning national and international awards and prizes, for applied experimental and academic research projects in practice. Currently Rector’s Delegate for the Far East representing Politecnico di Milano in Asia. Scientific coordinator of the international prize Compasso Volante Responsible for Politecnico di Milano in the building Resilience Network Android (EU-LLP). He is member of Fondazione Pesenti board, member of CasaClima scientific committee, member of Promozione Acciaio sustainability committee and scientific consultant of Federlegno Arredo. Currently he represents Politecnico di Milano in the Active House Alliance.
Bruno Lahousse
Director of Foyer Anderlechtois
He is a civil engineer in construction works [1979] and has a postgraduate degree with experience in financial management, project financing and facilities management. Two main assignments, From 1982 to 2002, project manager within Harbour Engineering Consultants in the field of maritime works and member of the steering committee, From May 2002 Secretary-general and from May 2008 General Manager of the Foyer Anderlechtois, In the same time, from January 2008 to January 2018, Managing Director of GILS, a non-profit organization in charge of the IT for 10 Public service real estate companies such as the Foyer Anderlechtois.

The Active House design guide give a very general guide in the design of an Active House, it explain in general terms topics that need to be taken into consideration to design an Active House.

Specification

The section “Specification” include the Active House specification for dwellings and include the specification in English and German for download. You can give comments to the individual parts of the specifications
